Sending Summer out in style

We decided the most appropriate way to bid farewell to the long, fun-filled days of Summer was to grab our swimsuits, jump in the car and head to the beach. We spent week vacationing down in the beautiful outerbanks of North Carolina. We had the most wonderful time hanging out with great friends, riding the ocean waves, building sandcastles, eating lots of yummy food, and seeing all the local historic sights. Check out a few pictures of our adventures.

I'm back

Okay, so I figured a way to work around my computer issues and have found a way to get my pictures on my blog. So, here is a little taste of what's been going on with us. First, Alyssa started kindergarten about 2 weeks ago. She attends a year-round school so that is why she started so early. She has adjusted remarkably well especially considering that she is transitioning from preschool three times a week for a couple of hours to all-day kindergarten five days a week. It has been a little disconcerting for me (being a tad bit of a control freak) adjusting to handing over my little girl to a teacher I really don't know and having her make friends with kids whose parents I don't know either. But, this is life and I need to get used to it. Needless to say, Alyssa has really enjoyed the social life of a kindergartener. On the third day of school she came home proclaiming that she had a boyfriend named Jacob. She then proceeded to tell me how she and Jacob gave each other hugs and blew kisses to each other at nap time. When I asked her why she did this she quickly responded, "because we love each other." We then had to have a little talk with her about how kisses and hugs are ok for family but not for friends. I was hoping to not have to have that talk for a while. What is up with kids these days?!

Sorry...

To the very few of you who actually read this blog, I am so sorry I have not done a very good job of updating lately. It seems my computer is on the verge of dying and it will not let me do things essential to blogging like downloading pictures. So, really all I can do is post text and since I have very little interesting, insightful or significant to say without the useful aid of pictures staring my adorable children, I have resorted to silence. Hopefully we will either figure out a way to fix our computer problems or else get a new one soon. But it might be a while before I can post any pictures. Sorry about that...keep checking back though!
